Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions are designed to ensure there is no confusion about what our service includes and excludes. If you are unclear about any element, please contact us.

Where we use the words ‘you’ or ‘your’, it means the customer. ‘We’, ‘Us’ or ‘Our’ means Bhatti Movers.

By making a booking with Bhatti Movers, you are accepting the following terms and conditions of our service.

1. Customer’s Responsibilities

a) It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that there is a space available for the vehicle(s) at both the collection and delivery addresses. If a parking ticket is issued as a result of a space not being available, then it will be the customer’s responsibility to pay the fine to the driver at the end of the job. Any parking meter costs incurred due to a free parking space not being made available are to be met by the customer.

b) The customer must provide an accurate description or list of the items requiring removal at the time of requesting a quote or making a booking. Our hourly rates are based on the information provided by the customer and the expected size and requirements of the move.

A small number of additional boxes or minor items would not normally cause an issue. However, if the actual quantity or size of the items is significantly greater than described, or if important items have been omitted or underestimated, the move may take longer than originally anticipated. As our services are charged on an hourly basis, the total cost of the move may increase if additional time is required to complete the job.

c) The customer must ensure that all items are dismantled prior to our arrival unless we have been informed of any non-dismantled items at the time of quoting and we have agreed to dismantle them. If we need to dismantle items that we were not made aware of or have not quoted for, additional charges will apply.

d) The customer must ensure that all items will fit out of the old property and into the new property. Although we will always assist where possible, it is not our responsibility, and we cannot be responsible for any doors that need to be removed or new entrances to the property.

e) The customer must be present or represented throughout the whole removal.

f) The customer must take all reasonable steps to ensure that nothing is left behind or taken away in error.

g) The customer must empty, defrost completely, and clean refrigerators and freezers. We are not responsible for the contents.

2. Quotation

a) Our quotation is not a guarantee that we have availability to accept your booking on the date you require. Your booking is not confirmed until you have confirmation from us in writing, either through email or text message.

c) The customer must inform us of what floor the properties are on at the time of requesting a quote. If we need to go to a higher floor than declared or if the lift is not working but it was at the time of quoting, this may result in the extra time required for our driver/team to walk up and down stairs and delays to our next booking. Extra charges may apply.

d) The customer must inform us of any awkward access at the time of requesting a quote. This can include no vehicle access, no parking in close proximity to the property, long corridors, cramped stairways, courtyards, etc.

e)

One man and a medium van will be provided as standard unless otherwise agreed at the time of booking. The customer is responsible for selecting the appropriate number of movers and the correct vehicle size based on the quantity, size and weight of their belongings.

If the customer selects a Driver Help service, this means that the customer or their nominated person must actively assist the driver with the loading and unloading of the belongings throughout the job. The customer must ensure that suitable assistance is available for the entire duration of the move.

The customer is also responsible for selecting a vehicle of sufficient size to accommodate their belongings.

We will provide the appropriate team and vehicle based on the information provided by the customer at the time of booking. However, we cannot be responsible for delays, additional journeys or additional costs resulting from an incorrect vehicle or mover selection, inaccurate information, or belongings that were not included in the original details provided.

If all belongings cannot fit into the selected vehicle in one journey, additional trips may be possible for local moves, subject to time and availability. For non-local or long-distance moves, additional mileage and/or other applicable charges may apply where additional journeys are required. Any such additional charges will be explained to the customer by the driver at the time before the additional journey is undertaken.

f) By booking with us and therefore entering into this agreement, you guarantee that:

(1) The goods to be removed and/or stored are your property, or

(2) The person(s) who own or have an interest in them have given you authority to make this contract and have been made aware of these conditions.

(3) You will provide us with a full indemnity and pay us in respect of any claim for damages and/or costs brought against us if the statement in e (1) or (2) is not true.

g) Quotations are valid for 7 days.

3. Work not included in the quotation

Unless agreed with us in writing, we are not responsible for the following:

a) Disconnecting, re-connecting, dismantling, or re-assembling appliances, fixtures, fittings or equipment.

b) Taking up or laying fitted floor coverings or taking down blinds or curtains.

c) Moving items from a loft, unless properly lit and floored and safe access is provided.

d) Dismantling or reassembling garden furniture and equipment, including, but not limited to, sheds, greenhouses, garden shelters, outdoor play equipment, and satellite dishes.

e) Moving any item(s) that our team reasonably believes they cannot move safely or the removal of which may damage the item(s) in question or their surroundings.

4. Excluded Property

The following items are excluded from this contract and will not be removed:

a) Jewellery, watches, trinkets, precious stones or metals, money, deeds, securities, stamps, coins, or goods or collections of any similar kind.

b) Items that have the potential to damage, explode, or be dangerous, including gas bottles, aerosols, paints, firearms, and ammunition.

c) Prohibited or stolen goods.

d) Drugs.

e) Goods that may be likely to encourage vermin, pests, or infestation.

g) Any pets or animals (including reptiles, fish, and birds), whether in a cage, tank, or animal carrier.

h) Goods that require government permission or licence for export or import.

Any of the above-listed goods will not be removed by us except with our prior written agreement. If you submit such goods without our knowledge and prior written agreement, we will not be liable for any loss or damage, and you will indemnify us against any charges, expenses, damages, or penalties claimed against us.

5. Waiting time / job starts from booked time

If an hourly rate applies to the job, the booked time will be treated as the start of the chargeable period. Charges will continue to accrue until the work is completed, including reasonable waiting time caused by the customer, lack of access, keys not being available, lifts being unavailable, parking or access problems, or the customer or their belongings not being ready.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place before the booked start time to avoid unnecessary delays.

6. Changes to the booking

If the actual requirements of the move differ materially from the information provided at the time of booking, the total cost of the move may increase.

This may include, but is not limited to, additional items, additional floors or stairs, restricted or difficult access, additional collection or delivery addresses, additional waiting time, additional journeys, incorrect vehicle or mover selection, or other circumstances that require additional time, mileage or resources.

7. Delays

a) We do our best to arrive promptly at the agreed time; however, on occasion, due to unforeseen circumstances, we may be delayed, i.e., road closures, traffic, weather, or an overrun of the previous job. We will always call to inform you of any delay and to re-arrange if need be.

b) We do not accept responsibility for any losses due to unforeseen delays out of our control.

8. Congestion Charges and Tolls

a) If your move takes place within a Congestion Charge Zone, the applicable Congestion Charge (£18) will be payable by the customer in addition to the agreed moving charges. Any applicable tolls or other road charges will also be payable by the customer. These charges apply whether or not they were specifically included in the original quotation.

9. Payment

a) Payment for the move must be made on the day of the move, before the removal team begins unloading the goods at the destination. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer directly to the driver or as otherwise agreed with us.

If you wish to pay by invoice, this must be agreed with us before your moving day. Where invoice payment has been agreed, the invoice will specify the agreed payment terms and payment due date.

Unless invoice payment has been agreed in advance, the full balance must be paid before any items are unloaded from the vehicle at the destination. The customer may not withhold or deduct any part of the agreed price without our prior agreement.

We reserve the right to charge interest on any overdue invoice amounts.

10. Insurance

Our vehicles are insured for hire and reward, together with an additional £10,000 goods in transit insurance, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations of the applicable insurance policy.

a) Customer involvement in the removal process
If the customer or any person acting on the customer’s behalf assists our team with lifting, carrying, loading, unloading or manoeuvring any item, they do so at their own risk. Where the customer is directly involved in manoeuvring or handling an item, we cannot accept responsibility for damage caused or contributed to by the customer’s actions, instructions or involvement. Any insurance claim will remain subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable insurance policy.

b) Pre-existing or concealed damage
We cannot accept responsibility for damage that existed before our team handled the item or for damage that cannot reasonably be established as having occurred during our handling or transportation. This includes items that were already damaged, defective, weakened or broken before the move, including damage concealed by packaging, wrapping, boxes or other protective materials supplied or applied by the customer.

Where an item has been packed by the customer, we cannot verify its condition before it was packed. Therefore, we may not be able to accept responsibility for damage discovered after unpacking where there is no reasonable evidence that the damage occurred while the item was being handled or transported by us.

c) Customer-packed items
The customer is responsible for ensuring that all items they pack are adequately protected and suitable for transportation. We do not accept responsibility for damage resulting from inadequate, unsuitable or insufficient customer packing. This includes televisions, mirrors, glass, pictures, ornaments, electronic equipment and other fragile or delicate items that have not been properly protected for transportation.

d) Fragile and unprotected items

Where the customer has not purchased or requested our packing service, the customer remains responsible for properly packing and protecting fragile or delicate items before our team arrives. If a fragile item, such as a mirror, television, glass item or other delicate object, is presented for transportation without adequate protection, we will not be responsible for his damage.

e) Packing service

Where our packing service has been purchased, our team will pack the agreed items using appropriate packing materials and reasonable care. However, all insurance claims remain subject to the applicable insurance policy and its terms, conditions and exclusions.

f) Reporting damage

The customer must inspect their belongings as soon as reasonably possible after delivery. Any damage must be reported to the driver immediately and, where possible, before our team leaves the premises so that the item and the alleged damage can be inspected and recorded.

11. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

a) We reserve the right to change or cancel any bookings.

b) 48 hours or more before your scheduled move: You may cancel or reschedule your booking free of charge. No cancellation or rescheduling fee will apply.

c) Less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours before your scheduled move: If you cancel or reschedule your booking, a charge of 50% of the total booking price will apply.

d) 24 hours or less before your scheduled move / on the same day: If you cancel or reschedule your booking, 100% of the total booking price will be charged.

These charges apply to both cancellations and rescheduling requests, as late changes may result in the loss of the allocated vehicle, movers and booking time.

12. Subcontracting

We reserve the right to subcontract part or all of the work provided for under this Agreement, in which case these Terms and Conditions will continue to apply in full.

13. Staff Abuse

Verbal or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated. If our staff are forced to leave a job because of abuse from the customer, verbal or otherwise, the customer will still be liable to pay in full.

14. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and any contract between the customer and Bhatti Movers shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
